PULSE EIGHT – new partnership
Our new partner PULSE EIGHT (United Kingdom) – a multi-award winning manufacturer of Video/Audio control and distribution systems – has provided WPITCOM with access to integrate their world-renowned Pulse-Eight libCEC technology into our supported players, enabling even more options for controlling connected display systems with HDMI™ CEC (Consumer Electronic Control).
The WPITCOM Display Box 2 Software (from version 2.1) supports screen control through several options*:
- HDMI™ CEC by supported internal adapters
- Network-Protocol
- RS-232 Serial
- Ex-Link
and now also *NEW*
- HDMI™ using external / internal Pulse-Eight HDMI™ CEC-Adapter Pulse Eight HDMI™ CEC-Adapter USB
(*depends on the supported display system – protocol is manufacturer-specific.)
Over the past months, WPITCOM has successfully integrated Pulse-Eight libCEC technology into the control software of the WPITCOM Display Box 2 software (Version 2.1.), enabling an alternative option for hardware players that do not have an HDMI™ CEC interface to still be able to control their CEC-enabled display systems.
The integration of Pulse-Eight libCEC into the WPITCOM control software provides some exciting functionality for hardware players wanting to control connected displays (with HDMI™ CEC), such as turning the screens on or off (standby mode) directly, in a time-controlled or manual manner, achieving optimal energy-savings.
There are several names for HDMI™ CEC technology depending on the display manufacturer although the technology is widely supported by most well-known brands.
