GPIO – General Purpose Input Processing

This add-on to the WPITCOM Display Box 2 provides the interrupt driven ( fast ) reaction on changing external signals connected to the system like switches, light sensors, light barriers and other signal level-change based devices. The GPIO add-on is providing signal change based input activities to react with changing display content.

Simple configuration

The configuration which input pin has to be monitored is simply done in a configuration file, prodividing the number of the pin and the activitity to take place. The GPIO add-on is closely linked to the “Hardware Director”  add-on which can simultaneously receive the signal change and switch on devices immediately for a defined time to for instance activate a light or open a gate. No programming is necessary to setup.

Hardware base dependend

As WPITCOM Display Box 2 runs on different platforms, some platforms support GPIO – others only by hardware externsion. In some cases, depending on the hardware basis, the “GPIO passive” add-on, or the “GPIO 1wire™” add-on might be recommendable, depending on the hardware basis in use.
